Rapid Prototyping

Rapid Prototyping (RP) is the name given to a host of related technologies that are used to fabricate physical objects directly from CAD data. These methods are generally similar to each other in that they bond materials in a layer-by-layer process to form objects.

RP is heavily used by engineers and designers to better understand and communicate their product designs before committing to production tooling. RP is also used by surgeons, architects, artists and individuals from many other disciplines to produce physical models that they can see and touch

  To validate a concept or a shape

Recommended Technologies
  Using: SLA, Objet, SLS
 
Stereolithography (SLA) - (read more about SLA)
  Excellent sharpness of detail and surface finish, limited functional applications (epoxy material).
Objet - (read more about objet)
  Excellent fine detail re-production, limited functional applications (acrylic material). Also available in soft ""rubber-like"" material, ShoreA27.
Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) - (read more about SLS)
  Very strong and heat resistant, low surface finish (glass filled nylon material).

Functional model
 

Description
  To validate functional fitment, strength or heat testing or other engineer testing

Recommended Technologies
  Using: SLS, CNC, Rapid PlasticPrototype Tooling

  Very strong and heat resistant, low surface finish (glass filled nylon material).
Rapid CNC - (read more about Rapid CNC)
  Machine a part in true production material, ideal for lenses and clear parts.

  Vacuum casting with silicone tool
Prototype Tooling - (read more about Prototype Tooling )
  True injection moulding

  For design validation, exhibition, presentation, photo shoots, etc.
